How Morning Rituals Can Support Your Mental Health

Posted by John Petersen on

We are all busy people. No matter your routine, you can juggle a lot throughout your day and can forget to take care of yourself. To distract or numb us, it’s easy to get lost in social media and fall down a deep rabbit hole of instantaneous content. Getting glued to apps like TikTok is becoming a problem for time management and self-comparison issues. Even if you have a timer lock, it’s second nature to break it instantly just to get back on it.

To preserve your time, we’re here to bring you tips to start your day right with a morning ritual that will give you a well-needed switch up.

Use a Gratitude Journal

According to Berkley, People who wrote in a Gratitude Journal weekly for 10 weeks or daily for two weeks experienced more gratitude, positive moods, and optimism about the future, as well as better sleep, compared to those who journaled about hassles or their daily life.

There’s no wrong way to start a gratitude journal. In this journal, you write down what you have rather than what you lack. It's up to you and your schedule how much you want to write every day.

Be Present and Set Intention

Do you find yourself looking down at your phone when you’re outside or trying to enjoy time with friends? To start your day successfully, it’s all about setting intention for your day before your daily tasks start. Being aware of your surroundings and the people in your life will keep you grounded and motivated to do things that help you become your most authentic self.

Whether it’s a simple meditation or reading a book, having a clear mind will help you in the long run instead of trying to numb yourself with social media apps. It’s easier said than done, but absolutely worth it for your mental health. Make your mornings meaningful with activities that ground and inspire you. If there are activities that keep your wellness in check, always write them down or share them with a friend.
